Citation: Regimental number on citation reads 5457104. Italy. Citation for BEM: On February 26th. 1944 in response to continued requests for Military Policmen, Cpl. Hockaday L. was despatched to Molfetta for the purpose of taking charge of a body of Regimental policemen and organising picquets to quell local distrubances among the Troops. The distrubances had been increasing in number and were becoming a serious problem. Through this N.C.O's untiring efforts and devotion to duty, the discipline of the Troops has improved to such an extent that very few incidents have since occurred. Lieut. Col. Lloyd, Officer Commanding Troops in Molfetta has the highest opinion of this N.C.O., and of the results his work has achieved.
