Citation: Queen's Birthday Honour. 19040992 Staff Sergeant Cyril Lancaster, RMP, 16 Parachute Brigade Pro Unit. 1965 -1968. Senior Special Investigation Branch NCO, 16 Parachute Brigade Provost Unit.Citation: Over a decade, Staff Sergeant Lancaster had given distinguished service to 16 Parachute Brigade as a member of this Royal Military Police unit. During the past three years, however, his duty as senior non-commissioned officer charged with special investigation into criminal activities has placed immense burdens on him. Often single-handed, he has been obliged to work exceptionally long hours; but is not alone on this count that he deserves recognition. Staff Sergeant Lancaster has shown exemplary patience and determination as the result of which he has proved remarkably successful in bringing criminals to justice. He has also become a byeword amongst all ranks for the sense of humanity and justice which has characterised the difficult and often depressing work that he does. Finally, he has on occasion been responsible for pursuing - and successfully settling - matters of national security. Staff Sergeant Lancaster's work overall has been outstanding. His conduct merits recognition.Recommended by: Brig. Commander, 16 Para Brigade. Gen. C in C Southern Command.
