Letter in his documents from Adjutant, HQ Plymouth Garrison to PM Aldershot, dated 5/3/1915 states:  It was with great regret that I received your order yesterday to send Sergeant Wooltorton to Headquarters, he has been my stand by ever since I have been here and I have found him a straight, loyal, honest, hard working Sergeant of whom I cannot praise too highly, but if it means promotion for him I should be the last to stand in his way.
