RMP. 17 Sept 1960 - 9 Dec 1962.Citation: WO I Ellis has served in HM Forces for 24 years with outstanding loyalty and devotion to his profession. His personal efforts have greatly contributed to the excellent results this Unit has achieved both at work an sport. as an all round sportsman he has been an active leader and he has never tired of encouraging and teaching the young NCOs. This warrant officer's personality and influence is reflected in the high standard of the Company's turnout, bearing and goo relations with the Garrison units an large German civilian Police Force in Berlin. During the series of crises here since Aug 61, WO I Ellis has shown outstanding qualities of leadership, devotion to duty and an exceptional sense of responsibility. The Coy has been turned out frequently and at short notice for emergencies and he has invariably been the first on parade and always eager to accept additional responsibilities. His fine bearing, impeccable turnout and quiet, confident manner has had a steadying influence on all ranks in several delicate and tense situations. His keen sense of responsibility and energetic leadership has called him to visit outlying patrols and duties at considerable inconvenience to himself and more often than not over and above the normal course of duty. The many and varied calls made upon this company, usually at short notice, have always been met and much credit has been given by senior officers. During the year he has been responsible for all the traffic arrangements, car parking and crowd control for the farewell parade for the outgoing GOC, HM the Queen's Birthday parade, the Military Tattoo held during the industries Fair and many other difficult and intricate special duties., all of which have been carried out with complete success. The smoothness of his planning which involves multitudinous detail, endorse the devoted interest this WO continually displays in all aspects of his work. Such success and reputation as this company has achieved and earned the high morale and standards shown by all ranks, both on and off duty, can to a large extent be attributed to this WO. I consider his services in Berlin to have been quite outstanding and warrant recognition by an award of the MBE.Recommended by Maj. OC 247 (Berlin) Pro Coy. Brig. Commander Berlin Inf Bde Group.
