| Citation: | Queen's Birthday Honour. 22276396 Sergeant Sydney Norman Jackson, SIB Hong Kong. 1 May 58 - 10 Dec 59.Citation: Sergeant Jackson, a Special Investigation Branch Investigator, has been employed during the past two years on intricate and involved bribery and corruption enquiries in which Chinese nationals have been concerned. These investigations have required a considerable amount of hard work, patience and persistence for often the initial information has been delayed; there have been language difficulties and as many persons have also been accomplices, he has found it necessary to re-examine at length, witnesses he has previously interrogated. This most energetic, hard working and painstaking NCO has however, completed all enquiries with the utmost speed, distinction and tact. His written reports on them have been accurate, concise and lucid, and they must have assisted a great deal those responsible for taking disciplinary action. It is considered that by his efforts, a considerable saving o the army has resulted, for many corrupt employees (some in relatively key positions) have been removed from War Department service. Sergeant Jackson is an excellent example of a first class NCO. He enjoys his work and Army life generally. Hi is a fine soldier and a splendid type of man.Recommended by: Commander S I Section, Hong Kong. Gen. GOC Hong Kong. Gen. C in C Farelf. |
