Extract from the Dundee Courier, 25/12/1954. TA Captain promoted. Captain John Graham Henderson of Burgmuir Road, Perth has been appointed to command the 51st Division Provost Company (TA).
He succeeds Major R H Sturrock, TD who retires on December 28.
The appointment carries with it the rank of major.
Born in Surrey Captain Henderson, now 21, began his war service in 1941, when the joined the Royal Armoured Corps.
He was commissioned in the Royal Artillery (Anti-Tank) in 1944.
Near the end of the war, he was transferred to the Gloucester Regiment.
In January 1948 he was commissioned for service with the 531 LAA/SL Regiment RA (TA), at Perth.
Last January he was transferred to the Royal Military Police.
Capt Henderson is in business with his father Mr W T C Henderson, antique dealer, Murray Street, Perth.
He played for Perth Hockey Club and Murray Royal Cricket Club.
He is married and has an 18 month old son.
