Nuneaton Man Gets BEF.
A former Nuneaton police constable, Staff Sergeant W W Duron of Castle Road, Weddington, Nuneaton, was awarded the BEM in the Queen's Birthday Honours list. The award sis for services in Berlin, where he has been with the Special Investigation Branch of the Corps of Military Police. Staff Sergeant Durno is on leave at Nuneaton before taking up duty in the Far East. He is married and has two daughters.

Corps of Royal Military Police.Citation: Sgt W W DURNO has served in the Army since January 1938; is in possession of the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal and was awarded a Certificate of Commendation for Devotion to Duty by the C-in-C Far East Land Forces in September 1950. Since 1948, when he became a member of the Special Investigation Branch, Royal Military Police, he has earned a splendid reputation for his ability, efficiency and constant devotion to duty. He is outstanding as a criminal investigator and has solved, by sheer hard work and tenacity, many difficult and intricate cases - often recovering, at the same time, considerable quantities of WD propoerty. The example he sets and the quality of his work is, and always has been, a fine exampole for all with whom he serves.Recommended by: Lt/Col.
