Citation: .23351706 Lance Corporal Donald Frederick William MATHIESON, RMPCitation: Lance Corporal MATHIESON saw from a distance the murder of a police officer by a gunman. He immediately gave chase and closed to within fifteen yards of the assassin although he knew the latter was still carrying his weapon. At this point the gunman was able to mingle with a crowd and make good his escape. Subsequently MAITHIESON was untiring in his efforts to identify and capture the gunman during a period of three days. He detained, single handed, a close associate of the wanted man. On this, as on other occasions, Lance Corporal MATHIESON showed great courage and devotion to duty. |
