Citation: Italy. Citation for MID. This NCO has at all times set a very high standard of efficiency and shown outstanding devotion to duty. He was selected as 2nd i/c of the Section forming the Advance Party for the Company during the invasion of the Italian Mainland. His courage and coolness during the enemy bombing and shelling was an excellent example to the junior NCOs and an inspiration to the men of his section. Again whilst commanding a Section in the vicinity of Campobasso when the area was still being shelled, he performed his duties in an exemplary manner and by his efforts maintained the morale of his Section and the smooth flow of traffic. Subsequently, when the Company was 25% under strength through sickness, it was due to Corporal Rawlingson's outstanding leadership and organisation that the lines of communication were kept open and traffic flowed smoothly in his Sector. This NCO has on every occasion shown outstanding devotion to duty. By his leadership, keenness and high standards of efficiency he has contributed in a large measure to the smooth control of traffic within the Corps Area.Recommended for BEM, awarded MID.
