Twenty years' Regular Army service had its reward when Sgt David Low (38), eldest son of Mr and Mrs D Low, 38, Holburn Road, Aberdeen, was presented with the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal by Major General Sir John Winterton, who commands the 5000 strong British Element, Trieste Force. Sgt Low who is serving in Trieste with the Corps of Military Police joined the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders in 1934 and served with the Battalion in Sudan, Egypt, Palestine, India and Africa. During the war he served with the 8th Army in North Africa and later took part in the D-Day landings with the 3rd British Infantry Division. He has been with the military Police since 1943. From 1948 to 1950, he was bandit-fighting in Malaya, where he was mentioned in dispatches. |
