Cecil Joseph Graham. Extract from the Western Times 12 March 1948. POPULAR EXETER POLICEMEN. After nearly 35 years' service in Exeter City Police, two well-known constables, who joined the Force on the same day, will retire tomorrow. They are PC "Mickey" Dooling and PC "Jock" Graham. Now that ther hour approaches for retirement, it may be revealed that PC Dooling's christian name is not "Mickey" but Arthur Robert and he is not a native of Ireland. Nor is "Jock" who was christened Cecil Joseph, scots born. Both are Londoners. PC Dooling was born in St. Pancras and PC Graham in Westminster. In 1931 PC's Dooling and Grahams were awarded the Exeter City Police Long Service & Good Conduct Medals. PC Graham who served in the Military Mounted Police from 1915 to 1919 was commended in 1920 for giving first-aid in a case of a severely complicated fracture and was highly commended later for his diligence and astuteness in investigating a case of pavilion-breaking in 1932. These two officers, who have served the citizens well, hang up their helmets for the last time tomorrow - just five years behind schedule. But for the war and post war police manning problems, they would have retired in 1943 |
