Citation: T/2/Lt Sidney James Rye, 4 Worcestershire Regt. Lys. 11/4/1918. Citation: For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in re-organising men and leading them forward under very heavy machine-gun and rifle fire, thus by his courage and personal example re-establishing the line. Later, finding an officer badly wounded, he carried him back to safety under heavy machine-gin fire.

Citation: T/2/Lt Sidney James Rye. MC. 4 Worcestershire Regt. Raod 8/8/1918.Citation: For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He went out with his company commander in broad daylight and captured an enemy post, bringing in two prisoners. He went out again with his company commander and a patrol and they brought back 11 prisoners and a machine gun, he himself capturing four prisoners. He showed the greatest coolness and initiative.(MC gazetted 16th Sept., 1918)
