Notes:MMP. Awarded the 1915 Star, Victory and War Medals. First served abroad (1) France, 4/2/1915 to 22/4/15. He enlisted in the MMP 8/12/14 age 30.8 years, occupation Labourer, home address: 1 May Tree Road, Bitterne, Southampton and later 285 Portswood Road, Southampton and Bloomfield Villas, Hursley Road, Chandlers Ford, Hants. He had formerly served in the Royal Horse and Field Artillery. He was discharged 23/5/15 under 392 (iii) (c) K.R. A letter in his army record from the APM 24 Division dated 17/1/15 to the Commandant, Military Police, Aldershot states: I am returning No. P/689 L/Cpl Rogers to Aldershot, as he is not a suitable man for the Police. He is far from being smart and cannot be relied on to carry out his duties efficiently. On his arrival here on the 17th December he was removed from a public house by the Police Inspector. On the 16th January he was absent without leave from 6.30 pm until 12.35 am 17th inst. The Regimental and Company Conduct Sheet will follow by post. Shoreham. He appears to have re-enlisted 7/6/16, 29/6/17 Pte. Dorset Regiment. No. 18042, 28/3/18 Essex Regiment. No. 33436, discharged 12/4/19 not longer physically fit for war service. Served Home 7/6/16 to 16/8/17, India 17/8/17 to 7/3/19, Home 8/3/19 to 12/4/19. George Rogers.
