Served Home 24/6/15 to 9/2/17, East Africa 10/2/17 to 12/3/19, En Route 13/3/19 to 23/4/19, Home 24.4.19 to 23/5/19, Class Z Reserve 24/5/19. At Dar es Salaam on the 23/1/19 he was charged with "When on active service, drunk in camp about 7.45 hrs". The APM deprived him of his L/Cpl Rank and awarded him 168 hours detention. The 168 hours detention was revoked in a letter dated 17/3/19 stating "The punishment awarded to No. P/3621 L/Cpl Rockliffe E Military Foot Police, viz:- Deprived of Lance Corporal stripe, and to undergo 168 hours detention, is illegal. This man, being a non-commissioned officer cannot be awarded Detention by his Commanding Officer. The punishment which may be awarded by a CO to an NCO is set forth in King's Regulations para 493 (VII) and (VI) and para 499. The case should now be submitted for a decision in accordance with para 507 King's Regulations. Will you please cause the attached Army Form B2069 to be returned to this office with authority for such variation as may be decided in this case. I assume that you will cause the man's pay account to be adjusted, as, by the illegal award of detention, the man has suffered loss of pay for 7 days.
