Witness No. 1625 Sgt Liversidge G. MFP sworn states: At about 20.00 hrs on 22/4/1919 I was on duty in Mareusky Street, Batoum when I heard a shot fired somewhere near. I went to the place where I thought the shot had come from. There was a crowd round the Beidum Hotel and I was told that an English soldier had had his arm very badly cut by a Cossack. I entered the hotel with the Chief of No. 1 Station (police station Stefan Antonouvich Sheolin) and saw several Cossacks. The were drunk. The Chief of No.1 Station took the swords of the Cossacks and examined them, there were traces of blood on one of the swords. Remainder of statement is missing.
