Citation: France. Pte (A/Sgt). Name on medal card George Henry Hooten. Citation: On the 28th March, 1918, this NCO was in charge of a battle stragglers' post at Cayeux. He kept his post there until it became necessary to withdraw successfully to Ignscourt, Demuin, Hangard and Domart. Sergt. Hooton was told to decide when it was necessary to withdraw his post and he showed a high sense of duty in remaining on in each place until shelling made it practically impossible to deal with stragglers. This NCO did very good work and handed over several hundred stragglers each day to Brigade Headquarters.Recommended for MM by APM 66th Division. Corps History 1942, Lovell-Knight.
