(Photograph shown nine men after enlistment) The above photograph of nine men of the Wigan Borough Police Force who enlisted as a body last week for the Military Foot Police, leaving Wigan on Thursday for Aldershot. All have been given the rank of Lance Corporal.
seated: Police Sergeant Edward B Whittle, Police Sergeant George Randall, Police Sergeant Thomas Sadler.
Standing: PC Peter Flynn, PC Thomas Ashcroft, PC William Beattie, PC George T Moulton, PC Isaac Warburton, PC George Hesketh.
All the above are well known, Police Sergeant Whittle and PC Beattie being the Coroner's Officers and PC Flynn is well known in local bowling circles.
