Citation: Military Medal CitationNormandyOn 6 June 1944 Sergeant Ford and his men landed with the assault battalions of 69 Infantry Brigade. Despite heavy mortar and machine gun fire he gathered his party together and fearlessly carried out his allotted task of marking the track being made through the beach minefields. His coolness and leadership were an outstanding example to his men who successfully completed the marking and establishing a vital route forward.Awarded an immediate MM.
