Extract from the Folkestone, Hythe, Sandgate & Cheriton Herald, 1/11/13. Police Presentation. A presentation was made at Folketone Police Station on Thursday, to Corporal McQuade of the Military Foot Police, who has been stationed at Shorncliffe Camp for four years, but who has now received orders to go to London. Police Sergeant Sales emphasised the cordial sporting relations which had existed between Corporal McQuade and the members of the borough Force. He was sure that Corporal McQuade would leave Folkestone with the best wishes of every member of the Force. Mr h Reeve Chief Constable in making the presentation said that quite shared the regret of the men at Cpl McQuaes departure. During the time he had been at Folkestone he (Mr Reeve) had heard him spoken of in the highest possilble terms. He sincerely hoped it was the intention of the military authorities to grants Cpl McQuade promotion on his departure to London. He had great pleasure in handing to Cpl McQuade on behalf of the members of the Folkestone Force a walking stick as a token of good feeling. Cpl McQuade in reply, remarked that he had always found the civil and military police very good comrades, both on and off duty, and during his short stay at Folkestone he had managed to unite the two bodies as far as their sports were concerned. |
