| Citation: | 49 (West Riding) Division Routine Orders, 3/4/1918.Act Of Courage.The Divisional Commander wishes to bring to the notice the gallant behaviour of No. P/12899 L/Cpl G Melrose, MMP On 5th March 1918 this NCO was on duty on the MENIN road when two four horse teams attached to 2 GS Wagons galloped down the road towards YPRES. L/Cpl Melrose seized the off leader of the leading wagon and although dragged for about 50 yards succeeded in bringing the horse to a standstill. The GOC directs that an entry to be made of this gallant act in L/cpl Melrose's Conduct Sheet in accordance with KR 1919 (XIV). |
