Constable Alexander Mackenzie, 8 Clifton Place, Aberdeen, who has been on the City Police harbour beat for twenty seven years, was honoured yesterday on his retirement after thirty years service. he was met by inspector K. Cole, Sergeant J U Reid and other colleagues and presented with a Westminster chiming clock. Our picture shows Inspector James Finnie handing over the gift. Constable Mackenzie is a native of Alford. He started his working life as a herdsman and in 1914 joined the 4th Gordon Highlanders. He served throughout the war latterly with the Military Mounted Police in Salonika and Constantinople.
