Part statement found in his army record: 15494 L/Cpl Jarvis, J, MFP. States: at 6.50hrs on the 27th inst. in the Rue 4th Republique I had arrested an Australian soldier who was without cap and waist belt. Passing a cafe on the way to the Gare Voyagers he remarked my cap and waist belt are in the cafe. I sent a gunner of the RGA who was passing into the cafe for the articles. As he was leaving the cafe another Australian soldier came out, drawing his bayonet. He shouted to me "Loose that man", I failed to do so when he struck out at me with the bayonet which entered my arm. signature J Jarvis. Witnesses: Cpl. J Townsend, RAMC, 39 General Hospital and Gnr. RGA. name unknown.

Short statement of circumstances: Stabbed by an Australian soldier in the arm with a bayonet when arresting a comrade of this Australian in Rue Republique at Havre. No. 334 Pte Fletcher E, 40th AIF has been charged with the offence.
