Death of County Police Sergeant.,
Sergeant Richard A Leake, of Leicestershire County Constabulary, stationed at South Wigston, died in Leicester Royal Infirmary to-day. The death of his wife in December came as a great shock to him and shortly afterwards he became seriously ill.
Sergeant Leake, who was 49, leaves three children, aged between 13 and 17.
He joined the police force in September 1908 and in pre war days was stationed in succession at Loughborough, Hinckley, Earl Shilton and Burbage.
He joined the Army in 1915 and served in France with the Military Mounted Police.
Returning to the force after the war, he was promoted to sergeant while at Sileby and took charge of South Wigston in May, 1933.
