Served Home 30/4/1900 to 28/5/1901, South Africa 29/5/1901 to8/8/1904, Home 9/9/1904 to 21/11/1911, Transferred to MMP 8/12/1905, Army Reserve 22/11/1911 to 4/8/1914, ? 5/8/1914 to 20/8/1914, France 21/8/1914 to 18/5/1919, Home 19/5/1919 to 17/6/1919, Class Z Reserve 17/6/1919. Home address: 65 St Peter's Grove, Canterbury. In 1919 he was SSM. 21/8/1914 11 Inf Bde, 13/5/1915 Etaples, 13/8/1915 4 Corps, 5/12/1915 23 Division, 8/9/1917 61 Division SSM. Letters in Service Record returning his Queen's South Africa Medal, a certificate as instructor and a rosary and crucifix which were handed in by a French women who had obtained them from a French soldier who had taken them from a dead German. These items were in his base kit bag in Sept 1914 during the battle of the Aisne and though to have been left in the retreat and taken by the Germans later.
