Sir, I am writing to ask you if you could give me Cornelius James Jones address, he is in the 6th Dragoon Guards, he is paying to a child, I sent the order from the court to the pay master at Canterbury some time ago, he wrote back and said it was not the right address, we had not got the company? I have been waiting to get it. I wrote to the Record Office Shrewsbury, they referred m to you so if you could help me I should be glad. Your Obedient Servant M E Oldland. Letter stamped 27/10/1916 Cavalry Records, Canterbury. A second letter dated 21/1/1916. 9 Wells Street, Ashton Gate, Bristol. Sir, In reference to yours of the 20th inst, it seems my new ? been overlooked, You will see I took out a warrant for arrears, when they went to his house he had joined the army, of course I could not have the man. Then the Police told me to get a copy of my order and bring it to them. I went to Chepstow and got a copy, as the order was made at Chepstow in 1903 and my name was Mary Elanor Oldland, I have married since. I took the copy of my order last November, twelve months up to Bridewell Police Station, Bristol, and they sent it Canterbury when I left it with them, as you see I have not had any money since he joined the army, you see the expense I have been put to awaiting an early reply. The order is made Oldland V Jones. Yours Respectfully, M E Witt. 5130 Pte. Jas Jones 5 DG.
