He was in the company of L/Cpl W Turnbull. MFP when they arrested 12341 Pte W Bowerman, 1 East Surrey Regt. who was shot at dawn for desertion.
On 3 February 1917 about 6pm I was on Military Police Patrol duty in company with L/Cpl. Turnbull in Boulevard Daunou. Boulogne. We stopped and questioned the accused who I now identify. We arrested him and conveyed him to the Police Guard Detention Room where he was detained.
Pte Bowerman was shot at dawn. Sentence carried out at 5.41 am on the 24/3/1917 underneath the souther face of Fosse No 4 de Ferfay, Boulogne. Death was instantaneous.
