| Notes: | MFP. From Aldershot. Awarded the British War Medal only. Enlisted 11/11/1898 in the East Kent Regt. No. 5781. Age 18.2 years, occupation plasterer. Served Home 11/11/1898 to 8/6/1900, South Africa 9/6/1900 to 27/10/1902, Home 28/10/1902 to 2/11/1910, Malta 3/11/1910 to 24/5/1915, Home 25/5/1915 to 26/7/1920 to discharge. Transferred to MFP. 16/7/1903. Later WOI. 7/4/15 letter in his service record reads: A/Sgt, character exemplary, nature of employment, with MFP, also Prisoners of War and Alien Branch of Custom House. Since the commencement of the war he has been employed in various positions of trust and responsibility in connection with the Prisoner of War Camp: for which he has earned the highest commendation of the APM, GSO and all those under whom he served, for the manner in which he carried out his duties. For the last two months, he has been employed a post of a confidential nature, given to him for his capability and tact. Another letter dated 9/7/17 from the PM, UK, Home Forces to the Commandant, CMP Depot Aldershot states: Reference your 352/31/B, dated 3rd July, 1917. I return the two notebooks, which I consider are excellent in every way. The instructions which you are giving these Senior NCO's from Commands is going to prove of the utmost assistance in increasing the efficiency of the Military Police at home, and, incidentally, in raising the prestige of the Corps of Military Police in the eyes of other units.
