Citation: Edinburgh Gazette, 12854, 1446,21/9/15. Pte. 2 Bn. DLI.Citation: For conspicuous gallantry on 9th August 1915, at Hooge. he was sent with messages three times from near the crater to Battalion headquarters under heavy fire and although wounded returned each time. he carried back an Officer and showed the greatest bravery and coolness throughout the day.
