Pte (A/Cpl).Citation: Detective Corporal Joseph Coxon, (Already in possession of MSM).At PARIS on the 12/3/1919 this NCO in company with No. P7932 L/Cpl WEBSTER, B, MFP had a desperate affray with two deserters. One of the latter used a revolver freely, two of the shots taking effect on L/Cpl Webster and causing his death. COXON showed the greatest of gallantry and it was solely owing to his exertions that these two men were eventually arrested. His action was all the more meritorious as although wounded in the arm he nevertheless pluckily continued the chase although being fired at freely. This is not the first occasion on which this NCO has shown great courage and coolness in face of danger. He has frequently been in very awkward positions but has always emerged with the utmost credit to himself. He is fully deserving of a high award.Col. OC Troops, Paris. E O'Brien, Col.
