| Notes: | MFP. Awarded the Victory and War Medals. First served abroad (1) France, 17/8/1917. Police Review 26 June 1942, page 317. Mr R Hall, (Rotherham). Mr R Hall, the Chief Constable of Rotherham, who has been awarded the King's Police Medal, joined the Sheffield Force in 1911. After service overseas in France and Italy he returned to duty in the Chief Constable's office in 1919 and was appointed Sergeant in 1921, still remaining in the office. In 1923 he was promoted Inspector in the Brightside Division. In 1926 he returned to Headquarters as Instructor to the Force and organised a School of Instruction for the selection and training of recruits for Sheffield and neighbouring Forces. In 1929 he was promoted Superintendent in charge of Central Division, where he remained until he was appointed Chief Constable of Rotherham in 1932. In Rotherham he has carried out considerable reorganisation in the Police Force and Fire Brigade and early in 1939 completed the supervision of the erection of a new Fire Station and 24 Firemen's dwellings at a cost of £40,000. He has been responsible for the organisation of the whole of the warden's service until it was taken over by the National Fire Service. He is the Area Correspondent for No. 3 Co-ordination Area of County, City and Borough Police Forces. He retired on the 5/11/55 age 65 years and lived at 9 Belle Vue Crescent, Filey, East Yorkshire. He died on the 11/12/55 in the General Infirmary, Leeds. His medals were as follows: OBE, Kings Police Medal, War Medal, Victory Medals (A/Sgt, MFP).
