Police Inspector to Retire.
Inspector Henry Ferry, who is retiring this week at Jarrow after 31 years in the police force, has served at several places in the county, including Durham, Dawdon, Carville, Darlington and West Hartlepool.
A native of Hetton-le-Hole, he joined Durham City Police Force in 1914 and later served three years in the Military Mounted Police overseas dur9ing the last war.
He was promoted sergeant in 1928 and inspector in 1939 and has been at Jarrow three years.
