After 26 years' service in the Lincolnshire Constabulary, PC Alfred England retired on pension at the week-end. He and his wife are to make their home in Northgate, West Pinchbeck. PC England was formerly stationed in Pinchbeck, West. Joining the force in June, 1913, he was first stationed at Crowland and then at Long Sutton and Pinchbeck West. In 1916 he joined the Military Mounted Police and served in France until 1919. After demobilisation he was stationed at Freiston, and from there he went to Tydd St. Mary, Deeplng, St.Nicholas, and thence to Colsterworth, where he has spent the last 10 1/2 years. With a record of 26 years' service in the Lincolnshire Constabulary, Police Constable Alfred England, who has been stationed at Colsterworth for the past ten and a half years, retired on pension at the weekend. He and Mrs England are making their home at West Pinchbeck. Formerly stationed at this latter village, Mr. England joined the Constabulary in 1913, his first station being Crowland. Next he moved to Long Sutton and then on to West Pinchbeck. Joining the Military Mounted Police in 1916, he served in France until 1919 and on demobilisation he was put in charge at Freiston. Other villages in which he has lived are Tydd St. Mary, Deeping St. Nicholas and finally Colsterworth. |
