Citation: | Military Medal Citation.Middle EastSergeant Macleod was in charge of the Provost Section attached to 154 Brigade during the period 18 Feb - 31 May at MARETH. Sergeant Macleod successfully reconnoitred and marked the cross track from 154 Brigade HQ to the Divisional main axis. Parts of this track were in full view of the enemy and were constantly shelled but on no occasion did Sergeant Macleod allow this to deter him from completing his task. During the counter attack by the enemy at MARETH from the back area to HQ 154 Brigade he was in full view of the enemy, almost continually shelled. Sergeant Macleod reconnoitred and marked a diversion to this part of the road and after it had been established he greatly encouraged the men of his section on duty at the diversion by visiting them at all hours of the day and night, especially when the shelling was heaviest. At ENFIDERVILLE Sergeant Macleod marked out and lit crosstracks in rocky, difficult country which was almost continuously under shellfire. Throughout this period Sergeant Macleod carried out his work in an efficient manner and by his own personal courage inspired all the men in his section to carry out their work under difficult and hazardous conditions.Awarded a periodical MM.
