TAVISTOCK MAN'S SUCCESS.
Deputy Chief Constable of Bath.
Inspector L E Dodd, a native of Tavistock, who was educated at Tavistock Grammar School and is a member of the Bath and District
Devonian Society, has been appointed from 100 applicants as superintendent and Deputy Chief Constable of Bath on the Resignation of Mr. T Ashworth.
Mr. Dodd who is 47, took up electrical work on leaving school, but in 1912 he joined the police force at Bath. From 1915 to 1919 he served in the Military Mounted Police in France and Belgium, but rejoined the Bath forcer at the endo of the latter year. He was immediately made sergeant, and a year later was promoted to inspector and chief clerk. He served as confidential clerk to four Chief Constables. He is a keen bowls player and has represented Somerset in county games.

DEATH OF SUPT. L E DODD.
The death took place yesterday of Supt. L E Dodd, Deputy Chief Constable of Bath. He was taken ill a few days ago with suspected pneumonia, and admitted to the Royal United Hospital on Monday.
Supt. Dodd joined the Bath Police Force in 1912, served in the Military Mounted Police on the Provost Staff in France and Belgium from 1915 to 1919, and in the latter year rejoined the Bath Police.
He was a director of Bath City Football Club.
