A very pretty wedding was solemnized at the Wesleyan Church on Saturday, the Rev. J. Howard Weir officiating. The bride, who was given away by her father was Miss Minnie Payne, the elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Payne,m of "Everglade." Stotfold and the bridegroom was Cpl. Arthur Dear, son of Mr. and Mrs. John William Dear, of Langford. The bride was daintily attired in a dress of white silk and as headgear wore a wreath and veil and she carried a lovely bouquet of white tulips and heather. Her maids were her sister, Miss Violet Payne and Miss Maud Dear, sister of the bridegroom, who were dressed in pink crepe coronna and pink lace hats, Misses Gertrude Dear sister of the bridegroom, and Kate Jordan,m who wore dresses of blue coronna and blue hats and Misses Hilda an Miriam Whitred, dressed in yellow voile and black lace hats. They all Carried bouquet of daffodils, etc., which with that of the bride were gifts of the bridegroom. The bridegroom is a member of the Military Mounted Police with the 8th Army, now stationed in Belgium where he returns after his honeymoon. He jointed the Army four years or more ago and has been on active service more than two years. In civil life he as an employee of Messrs. H. Franklin and Son, at Langford Mills. He was accompanied as best man by his friend, Mr. Arthur Clarke, of Langfrord. After the ceremony a reception was held at the house of the bride's parents. |
