With reference to your letter of 3rd February, 1919, No. 421/16 regarding the eligibility for bounty of No. 714, L/cpl, F Cummings, Military Mounted police, I am directed to inform you that the man who becomes time-expired whilst in captivity, or during the leave granted on repatriation, prior to discharge or demobilization are eligible for bounty as from 18th April, 1918, provided they are still effective on that date, or the date on which they become time-expired if later.
I am to add that a amendment to paragraph 6 of Army Order 222/18 embodying this decision will shortly be issued.I am, Sir, Your obedient Servant, C Small, Major, for the Assistant Financial Secretary.
