| Citation: | Acts of Courage Extracted From the Corps Order Books.P/1680 LANCE CORPORAL G COLLIER MILITARY FOOT POLICEExtract from Army Routine Order No; 1539 dated 27/9/17. The Army Commander wishes to express his appreciation of the following Act of Courage on the part of P/1680 L/Cpl Collier G MFP, under the following circumstances:- At about 12.10pm on the 19th Sept 1917, this NCO was returning from duty in a certain town, when he saw a team of six horses attached to a limber wagon , galloping in his direction. These horses were bolting and there were no drivers with them. L/Cpl Collier, after getting traffic clear, with considerable presence of mind and courage, seized the bridle of one of the leaders and brought it down. Owing to the speed at which they were going, two of the other horses also came down. L/Cpl Collier then extricated the horses from the harness and handed the team over to the drivers who came up shortly afterwards. By this NCO's courageous act a serious accident was undoubtedly averted. Entered in accordance with KR's para 1919 (XVI). (Extracted from AFB 122 of P/1680 L/Cpl Collier G. MFP). |
