Son of ex Police Sergeant William Burton, of Tur Langton, who retired 26 years ago after 32 years' service, Sergeant A W Burton has also, like Mr Rimmington, become familiar to many people through being stationed on duty at the Clock Tower. He joined the Force on March 15th 1911 and at one time was in the charge office in the old Leicester police station.
