Squadron Sergeant Major Francis Lundy, of the Military Mounted Police, who has been awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal, was before the war a member of the Leeds Mounted Police. His wife lives at 3, Finsbury Street and in a letter to her, in reply to one asking how he had won the D.C.M, he simply replied: "I did my best: I did my duty.". A reservist, he joined his regiment, the Hussars when war broke out.
