| Citation: | Libya. Citation for BEM: Between 23 Oct 42 and 17 Feb 43 on the road to TRIPOLI Sgt HART CMP had been in charge of one of the Army Provost Sections which has been scheduled to enter towns at the very first opportunity after capture by the leading troops. He has led his section into these towns, generally under shell fire, on the heels of the armoured car patrols who have taken the town and has, by his clearsighted and quick action without the slightest doubt, prevented on many occasions the excessive loot and sabotage by natives and others before the arrival of the garrison troops, which would otherwise have occurred. Although 49 years of age his example and soldierly bearing in the desert and in towns has been outstanding in a Force where such is considered of a very great importance and of the widest benefit to the troops in the Army in general.Lt-Col T C Irvine, Deputy Provost Marshall Eighth Army.
