RAOB - A meeting of the Marshall Hall Lodge was held on Tuesday evening. It was opened by Primo T Ratt with Bro. Bennett in the C.M. Chair, both gentlemen being in uniform. The business of the lodge having been disposed o, the l.H. was welcomed with acclamation. Bro. Peacock opened the entertainment with a well rendered ,military march on the dominoes, followed by "Boys in Khaki, Boys in Blue," sung by Bro. Humphries. Then entered unexpectedly Primo S H Holl, sergeant in the Military Mounted Police, just returned from the front. Naturally in his case fines were dispensed with and a toll collected from the brethren. Then, on the proposition of Primo M. Hyslop, seconded by Bro. I Smith, Sergeant Holl entertained the lodge with an account of his experiences during his absence on military service. The brethren were gratified to hear from Primo Holl that although far from the Marshall Hall lodge, he had not forgotten Buffaloism, and that he with others had founded another lodge, called "8th Divisional War Lodge." and in spite of the conditions prevailing, it was carried on successfully for the benefit of the Order. He went into a lengthy description of the first RAPB ambulance car and explained that while providing the car, brethren of the Order had not fo5rgotten to make provision for the wear and tear, Primo Holl then gave his own original toast which he forwarded from the front at Christmas "To the Absent Ones.". The lodge closed with due form and harmony.

Hinckley soldiers at the front continue to add to their already creditable record of awards. News is to hand that three more of their number has been awarded the Military Medal for bravery in the field, the recipients being: Sergtr.-Major S. Holl, of the Military Mounted Police. Sergt. Major S. H Holl is a well known Hinckley man. He volunteered his services to the Army soon after the outbreak of war and was promptly accepted, having considerable previous Army experience and holds the Good Conduct and Long Service Medal. It is understood that his decoration is the result of the gallant way in which he led him men on to the battlefield to bring in prisoners. Holl went through the South African War and brought home a number of trophies, including a Boer shell, which for the past two years served as a collecting box at Hinckley Constitutional Club, of which Holl is a member, for cigarettes for the troops in France. Prior to the outbreak of war he was employed at the hosiery warehouse of Messrs. Simpkin, Son, and Emery, Hinckley.
