Charles Isaac, of the Military Mounted Police, was summoned by Annie Eliza Doris Ford, at Amesbury, to shown cause why he should not contribute to the support of her illegitimate child, of which she alleged he was the father. Mr. F. Trethowan appeared for the applicant and stated that the child was a girl and was born on December 11th. Defendant admitted paternity, but said the matter would have been settled months ago if the girl had behaved fairly towards him. He promised to marry her and wrote to her from abroad, but on hi arrival he found a letter saying that she did not wish to have any more to do with him. He found she had been with someone else. The Clerk: That will not relieve him from liability to maintain the child. Formal evidence of the birth having been given, an order was made for the defendant to contribute threepence a day till the child is 15 years old. |
