His many friends will be pleased to hear that Frederick J Pearce (formerly Barnstaple Borough Police) has been promoted from L/Cpl to Company Sergeant Major in the Military Foot Police after only six months service. Sergeant Pearce is now on service with the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force.

Sgt F J Pearce (Military Foot Police) formerly a member of Barnstaple Borough Police Force has sent an interesting letter to a friend in Barnstaple from Salonica. "I have often been asked (He says) where I received by police experience, and I have always upheld the good old name of Barum police force under the supervision of Chief Constable R S Eddy." Sgt Pearce recalls some stirring events at Salonica, including the visit of a Zeppelin and adds that he often meets lads from Barnstaple.

Many friends in Barnstaple will be pleased to learn of further promotion for Sgt F J Pearce, Military Foot Police, formerly a member of the Barnstaple Borough Police Force, who has been given the rank of Sergeant Major in charge of the Military Foot Police in Salonica. Sergeant Major Pearce has more than once been specially commended for meritorious service whilst serving in the Balkans and was some time ago the recipient of a certificate of merit for special work.

Sergeant Major F Pearce, Military Foot Police and formerly of Barnstaple Borough Police Force who has been serving in Salonika for 4 1/2 years, has been presented by the Staff on leaving for home with a testament, together with a gold watch and chain, and a gold brooch for his wife, in recognition of his services.
