Served Home 22/6/12915 to 17/8/1916, BEF 18/8/1916 to 26/11/1917, Italy 27/11/1917 to 22/10/1918, Home 23/10/1918 to 27/11/1918 discharged no longer physically fit for war service. 25/2/1919 he was awarded a pension of 5/6d per week to be reviewed in 52 weeks, disability 20% Malaria. Trial for "Fraudulent Enlistment" into the QOR Glasgow Yeomanry: whilst serving in the Scottish Horse as No. 416 Pte W Nelson, dispensed with y order of the Major General Commanding 7 Division BEF Italy, dated 2/7/1918. To suffer the same forfeiture and deductions of pay (if any) as if he had been convicted by DCM of the said offence. All former service forfeited on dispensation of trial. Service towards limited engagement reckons from 2/7/1918.
