Two Who Joined At Warrington On Same Day 25 Years Ago.
Constables E E Hawkins and G Porter, of Warrington Borough Police Force, who joined together on the same day 25 years ago, are to retire at the end of the month.
Both enthusiastik gardeners, they have long been rival competitors at the annual shows of the Warrington Police Horticultural Society, each having won championship trophies on various occasions. Each officer has also won a championship trophy outright by securing the award at three consecutive shows.
Constable Hawkins is known to thousands of motorists in the North by reason of the fact that for many years he was regularly on traffic control duty at Market Gage, a point in the entre of the town where two main roads cross.
During the War, Constable Porter served in the Military Foot Police in France and German East Africa.. |
