ARMY PT PART CAUSE OF DEATH. Soldier's Heart Failure. A verdict of death from natural causes was recorded at Woking, Surrey, today on Army probationer Brian Douglas Frank Osborne, 18, who collapsed and died on Tuesday during a mile endurance run at Inkerman Barracks, Woking. His home was at Bedford Road, Northfield, Birmingham and he was in the Royal Corps of Military Police. Dr David Hater, pathologist of Harley Street, who examined the body shortly after death, said that he found the cause of death was heart failure due to a sub-acute, rheumatic mitral condition accelerated by physical exercise of moderate severity. This rheumatic heart condition would be such that it would not produce symptoms sufficiently severe for the man to report sick. The coroner said: " The circumstances of the disease make it obvious that no blame can attach to those responsible for the supervision of the man during his training or while in the army and it is a death from natural causes.
