Citation:   22795542 A/Cpl. Henry Anthony McKenzie, Green Howards attached to 1 Duke of Wellingtons' Regiment. Korea, 1/1/1953 to 30/6/1953, Section Commander. Citation: Over a period of many months Cpl McKENZIE has shown himself to be an NCO of outstanding courage and determination. As section commander he has instilled offensive spirit and enthusiasm into his men, whilst as patrol leader he has invariably carried out his task coolly and intelligently. his bravery has been demonstrated on numerous occasions. Once he led a small raiding party behind the enemy lines to attack an isolated post suspected of being occupied. On finding it empty he proceeded, on his own initiative, along the communication trench, to investigate the main defences. By approaching to within 20 yards of the enemy he was able to obtain important information which proved extremely valuable for future operations. again, when taking part in a daylight assault on a strongly held enemy tunnel, Cpl McKENZIE displayed great audacity by exposing himself to heavy small arms fire whilst covering his patrol commander's approach to the entrance of the tunnel. Thus protected, the patrol commander was able to silence the enemy garrison and subsequently to blow up the tunnel. On many other less important patrols Cpl McKENZIE has always shown the same courageous spirit. By his leadership, example to the NCO's and men of the battalion. Recommended by: Lt/Col, 1 D of W Regiment, Brig, 28 Commonwealth Bde, Maj Gen. 1 Commonwealth Division.
