Citation:   Awarded whilst serving with the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. 5 Infantry Division. McCracken, C H K Fusilier 7043029, 1 Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. For most conspicuous gallant when acting as the sole remaining Stretcher Bearer at Hollebeke 27th May, 1940 and at Oosttaverne 28th May, 1940. In both these actions when under very heavy shell fire, he continually dressed and evacuated wounded singe handed. He showed complete disregard for his own safety and set an excellent example to the remainder of his company. (L.G. 20/6/1940). Recommended to DCM awarded MM.
