Notes:   He was killed in a traffic accident with S/Inspector Radharkrishnan of the Madras Police, whilst escorting a prisoner who attempted to escape, causing a traffic accident at the Marmalong Bridge, Madras. 122 L of C Pro Coy were stationed at Fort George, Madras. The funeral of the late Sgt R J Reynolds, of 122 L of C Provost Unit Military Police, who died August 13 from injuries received in the Mamalong Bridge jeep crash on July 28, took place yesterday at the St Mary's Cemetery with full military honours. The cortage left the British Military hospital Fort St George at 3.30pm, the coffin draped in the Union Jack, being carried on a gun carriage drawn by an MP truck. The band of the Dogra Regiment, followed by a detachment of the 122 Pro Unit, led by Capt A Davis, Second in Command, and RSM Rushton. At the cemetery, the procession was joined by Brig. R J Mackay, Sub-Area Commander, together with representatives of the GOC Madras Area and Maj C A Linsell, APM Madras, and capt P G Robertson, commanding the unit. Mr E H Colebrook, Commissioner of Police, Madras City Deputy Commissioners J R Lefevere, R Jakeman and C J P Pinto and other officers of the City police were present. The pall bearers were CQMS Ware and Sgts Hemingway, Thomas, Dawson, Hawksworth, Wigg, Crook and Coope. The Manchester Regiment provided a firing party, and the "Last Post" was sounded by the buglers of the Dogra Regiment. The service was conducted by Maj L E Claxton S C F Madras. The attendance of all ranks indicating the affection and respect in which Sgt. Reynolds was held by his Military and Police colleagues, Indian and British. Sgt Reynolds who was 35 years of age, leaves a wife and child who live in Birmingham. (RMP Museum).
