Died on the Arras Road near Eltrun when his horse threw him after being frightened by a steam engine, he landed on a barbed wire road block and the horse fell on him. His nickname was HP after the table sauce. No inscription on gravestone. Died of injuries, 57 Casualty Clearing Station, Army Register of Soldiers' Effects, 1901-1929.
